Get to Know Rich Stewart, Move Consultant for JK’s Household Goods Division, Maryland

Diverse, optimistic, and curious are just a few words that describe Rich Stewart. These three qualities help make him a highly regarded, successful Move Consultant. Rich joined JK Moving Services in September of 2017 and hit the ground running! He found a real passion for what he does despite having no prior interest or knowledge in the moving industry. “I am able to work with smart, caring clients and teammates.” Rich’s favorite part about working at JK is knowing that he represents a high-quality company that gives customers the peace of mind they need during their move.

Rich Stewart Honored as FCAR Affiliate of the YearA highlight of Rich’s career at JK was his recent honor as the Frederick County Association of Realtors’ (FCAR) Affiliate of the Year. FCAR typically gives this award to a non-realtor professional who has the biggest impact on the organization, its members, and the community. Rich said, “FCAR recognizing me is huge because I’m the only mover that most of them know and this award typically goes to a lender or title company.” Upon reflection, this award motivates Rich to hit his goal of $1.1 million in sales. It also made it clear to Rich just how much his community values the services JK Moving provides and how he, in turn, passes that value on to them.

The Secret to His Success?

After graduating from the University of Maryland, Rich started his career as a sales team leader at Thompson Creek Window Company. Rich’s desire to pursue a career in sales came to light after he spent time with David Yoho, an independent consultant. Yoho helped him understand how to read people’s verbal and non-verbal cues to determine what they needed and wanted to make a decision. The process, called scripting, uses a specific set of questions when addressing the customer. This allows Rich to focus on his customer’s responses rather than thinking about what to say next. Using this systematic approach appealed to Rich and led him to the current stage in his career.

Looking ahead at his future with JK, Rich hopes to reach that goal of $1.1 million in sales. Additionally, he wants to help grow the JK brand in other markets on the East Coast, such as Miami, New York and Atlanta.

Rich, Chloe, & McKenzieBesides being a stellar Move Consultant at JK Moving Services, Rich is a family man. He is married to Chloe, and together, they have a daughter named McKenzie. One of his favorite things about being a father is picking his daughter up from daycare. Rich’s curiosity is highlighted by his interest in home improvement, beer brewing, and cooking. When he was young, Rich was a Boy Scout, which may have contributed to his love of nature. A number of his hobbies incorporate this love of nature, including running, weightlifting, snowboarding, and caring for animals. He also enjoys attending concerts, but his favorite activity is spending time with his family.

Rich’s advice for anyone entering sales? “Keep showing up. Even when you feel discouraged, keep showing up.”
