When you think about a moving company, you probably think about the folks who actually conduct your move, like the packers, drivers, and warehouse staff. But there are so many other employees “behind the scenes.”
I recently sat down with Aaron Shaffer, JK Moving Services’ Senior Project Manager in our Commercial Services Division, to better get to know him and his role at JK. Here is a little of what he shared:
Who is Aaron Shaffer?
I was born and raised right here in Loudoun County where I have lived my whole life. I went to Broad Run High School in Ashburn and graduated in 2001. I am happily married and have two young daughters.
What are some of your interests outside of work?
In my spare time I enjoy composing music. I play the guitar as well as a few other instruments. I am also a member of a local band where I play lead guitar and share in the singing duties. We’ve performed at many local venues and primarily perform original music.
What is your role at JK?
I’m currently a project manager for the commercial services division. I am involved with the planning and execution of some of the largest moves in the DC area. The constant changes and demands in this industry create many challenges. Finding solutions to overcome those challenges keeps me interested in this industry.
How long have you been at JK and what is your favorite experience or moment been so far?
I started at JK when I was in high school and am finishing up my 14th year with the company. The many friendships I have built through the years are irreplaceable and make this such a great place to work. The best experience is always at the end of a job, knowing you ‘wowed’ the customer and proved why our team is the best.
What is your fondest childhood memory?
I always enjoyed playing football and nothing beat the thrill of playing under the lights. Those are the times I really wish I could re-live.
What are your future goals?
I am currently enrolled at NOVA where I am close to earning a degree in business management. I don’t plan on stopping there and am still considering what school I am going to transfer to. I believe the education I am receiving will give me the tools needed to keep my career progressing in the right direction.
