At JK, we pride ourselves on giving our customers the best possible move experience. We accomplish our goals through training, drug testing, professional certifications, background checks, and proper equipment. It’s hard for our employees to deliver the expected quality of service without the right equipment.
On a smaller scale, this means having the right tape, floor protection, pads, and boxes for our crews when they arrive for the move. On a larger scale, this means having the newest and best fleet possible. That’s why we’re proud to announce JK is making a $2.5 million investment in equipment to better serve our customers.
What are we getting with this investment?
JK is purchasing ten new tractors and 11 straight trucks. Our goal is to put the best fleet on the road for our crews and customers. As part of the investment, JK will perform a cycle of our fleet. The new tractors will be part of the long distance fleet. While older tractors cycle down to regional moves, short haul moves, local moves. This also means some older tractors will be retired from service.
We do this for a variety of reasons. First, with the newer tractors there are fewer breakdowns, reducing the chance of a long distance move missing the delivery window. Second, the newer tractors get better fuel mileage. JK is committed to sustainable business practices and fuel mileage is a place where we can make a difference.
Who gets to drive the new tractors and straight trucks?
Many of our long distance drivers are comfortable in their current tractors. They spend so much time in them, they become home. Unless a tractor is really old, these drivers will stay in their current cabs. So how do we decide? We recently discussed rewarding our crews. A new tractor or a new straight truck is a great recognition for a JK driver who goes “above and beyond.”
JK is excited to welcome 21 new members to the JK fleet. We want the best fleet available to give our crews the correct tools to deliver an excellent move for our customers.
