A few years ago, we hired a young, good-looking kid to perform in-home estimates for JK. After about year, he decided that his entrepreneurial spirit was calling. He left JK in good standing to start a company called 123 Junk, helping homeowners and companies responsibly dispose of unwanted goods (like furniture and appliances).
JK Moving Services has proudly partnered with 123 Junk and Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia. The partnership has created a system for streamlining the donation process of reusable furniture that otherwise would have been disposed of in the local landfill.
Using JK’s Storage Valet at an exclusive flex storage location (next to the Fairfax County Landfill), 123 Junk has developed a proprietary system to create a pipeline for donations to our best local charitable partner. Using the storage point, we can save time, fuel, and man-hours that would otherwise be lost in the donation process.
This partnership allows us to donate more items, and, by extension, save more items from becoming landfill mass. Since it makes the donation process easier for the crews, Habitat also receives more donations from the partnership than they would otherwise.
JK has a long history of dedication to sustainable practices and being involved in our local community. Our partnership with 123 Junk and Habitat for Humanity of Northern Virginia brings both of these values together for us, and we couldn’t be more pleased!
